When the first no-heat call comes in

An HVAC day is booked twice. Weeks ahead, the season books it: fall checks, each promised a morning or an afternoon. Then the first cold night books it again, and by eight the no-heat calls are in. A family without heat is seen before a check that can wait, so the calls go first and the maintenance gives way.
